Hereditary

Over 30 years ago, when I was in my twenties and managing the production line at SAB, I had a vision for this sculpture. This vision was triggered by a woman walking towards me on the left side of the road, carrying a white plastic bag. As she vanished from my sight, an image appeared. The image was of four human figures – three adult women and a little girl. The women were carrying bundles of wood that were approximately 1.5 meters long.
The following detail caught my attention: The leading woman bore a stack of wood that skewed to the left. The bundle of the woman following her tilted to the right, while the third woman’s load also veered to the left, creating a criss-cross pattern. The third woman was handing a stick to the little girl trailing behind her. The girl leaned forward, almost losing her balance to grab the stick. It was
instantly apparent that these four figures represented a mother, a daughter, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter – four generations from the same lineage. The name “Hereditary” came to me simultaneously.
This vision appeared and then faded, remaining dormant in my mind for over three decades. It patiently waited for me to journey through time and embark on a path of self-discovery. Only then was I able to grasp the true understanding, uncover the significance of the vision, and figure out how this vision was meant to be brought to life.
My interpretation of the creation process for the sculpture is as follows: Any individual who contributes to the project by purchasing a Wired Different T-shirt or Hoodie will have the honour of their name being engraved into stone and displayed alongside the sculpture.
The sculpture will feature two specific areas for inscriptions. The first area, encircling the sculpture, will display the names of corporate and individual sponsors who have made donations for school children. The second area will be dedicated to engraving the names of these recipient
children in stone.

As you progress on the journey through life it is invariable that you will encounter the presence of God. This revelation comes to all, either during your life or at its end.

This Sculpture depicts a footless, handless, faceless, cross less Christ, Christ the cross.

Supported at its center by the ancient Father and held in union by the Spirit. The unity of the Holy Trinity. It is a symbol, aptly named G=MC2 ( God is Energy ) That which cannot be created or destroyed but moves from one form to another. Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity creating the perfect platform to land this understanding. God is within everything. In every little atom and in all of creation.

One wire representing one person and together the living body of Christ in the world today. Each required to be the feet of Christ, the hands of Christ, the face of Christ and each assisting to carry the cross of Christ.
